Berkshire Hockey Association is committed to promoting hockey at schools throughout the county. An active programme of schools competitions are held for the under 11 to under 18 age groups, with a track record of successful Berkshire representatives progressing to Regional and National Competitions. We have also previously assisted with coaching matters at a number of schools.
Competitions for 2023-24
This year Berkshire Hockey Association is organising the following tournaments:
- Berkshire Schools Girls Outdoor Championships - Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 18 (September - November 2023 and March 2024)
- Berkshire Schools Boys Outdoor Championship - Under 14 and Under 16 (January 2024)
- Berkshire Schools Girls Indoor Tournament - Under 16 and Under 18 (October 2023)
- In2Hockey - Under 11, Under 12 and Under 13 for girls and boys (February - March 2024)
The Under 13, Under 14, Under 16 and Girls Under 18 outdoor championships form part of the National Schools' Competition.
The In2Hockey competitions are seven aside, played on half a pitch with Goal Keepers.
Who Can Play
The age ranges are defined as:
- U11 (born after 31st August 2012)
- U12 (born after 31st August 2011)
- U13 (born after 31st August 2010)
- U14 (born after 31st August 2009)
- U15 (born after 31st August 2008)
- U16 (born after 31st August 2007)
- U18 (born after 31st August 2005)
At Under 14, 15, 16 and 18 level players may ONLY compete in one age group and in one gender competition and for one school in a season i.e. girls may not play in boy’s teams and vice versa.
An Under 13 player may play in an Under 14 team and in an Under 13 In2Hockey competition.
For In2Hockey, Under 11, Under 12 and Under 13 players may only play in one age group.
Two Under 11 girls may play in an Under 11 Boys In2Hockey team.
Under 12 and Under 13 In2Hockey competitions are single sex competitions.
Players may participate in different age groups in Indoor and Outdoor competitions e.g. an Under 16 player may represent her school in the Under 16 outdoor competition and the Under 18 indoor competition.
