Following trials during the Development Centre (DC) programme, selected players are invited to attend an Academy Centre (AC).  The AC is the next step on England Hockey's "Player Pathway" and consists of ten training sessions held on Friday evenings, together with four inter-county match days known as the Southern Counties Championship. The sessions are high intensity, challenging and are designed to build on existing hockey skills at an individual level and promote team play.  The sessions usually last for 90 minutes.   Training dates for 2019 are:-

  • 25th January
  • 1st February
  • 8th February
  • bad weather fallback date - 15th February
  • 1st March
  • 8th March
  • 15th March
  • 22nd March
  • 29th March
  • 12th April
  • 3rd May

Players are selected from AC squads to represent Berkshire in the Southern Counties Championship with four match dates per age group where matches are played against other counties in a triangular format (3 teams coming together in one location and playing against each other).  In 2019, the matches will take place on the following dates:

A small number of players who show the requisite levels of attitude and ability during the Academy Centre programme will be nominated to attend the next step on the England Hockey Player Pathway . . .  a Performance Centre (PC) and have the potential to represent the South region in regional competition.

Good luck to all players!
